Jasmine Goley began her violin studies in her public elementary school and immediately fell in love with the instrument, and quickly began private studies with Olga Dusheina Dougherty. Later in adolescence, she studied with the legendary violinist and professor Alejandro Mendoza, who personally took her under his wing to impart the delicate craft of teaching violin. During her time as his student, Mr. Mendoza passed down the wisdom of his violin teacher, Dorothy Delay, when he invited her sit in on lessons and assist him with taking on a new student. Jasmine proudly comes from a lineage of educators who are passionate about classical music and robust instruction to their dedicated students. She was further inspired to become a public school educator by her high school orchestra teacher, Tammy Su Yi, who taught her that music and social justice go hand in hand.

Jasmine was awarded a full scholarship to attend CUNY Hunter College as an Orchestral Artist, where she received a master’s in music education. She served as concertmaster of the Hunter Symphony Orchestra from 2022-2024, under the direction of maestro David Fulmer.

Goley obtained her bachelor’s in music at Stony Brook university, where she studied violin with Joanna Kaczorowska. During this era, she served as concertmaster of the University Orchestra, and performed with the Stony Brook Symphony orchestra under the direction of Michelle Merrill and Eduardo Leandro.

During her undergraduate studies, Jasmine was awarded the Lambert Prize and the prestigious Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, nominated by her violin teacher and professors. Upon graduation, she received departmental honors for having curated and performed a full-length lecture recital in Staller Recital Hall.

Jasmine is a proud public school educator where she teaches orchestra and imparts a genuine love for music on her students. On a more personal note— she is an avid reader, foodie, and skincare enthusiast.
